As a part of its sustained campaign to check spreading of avian flu in the State, the State Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department has sent 125 blood samples along with six carcasses to Bhopal for verification of bird flu.The State has been under the grip of avian flu scare as migratory birds have been swarming the wetlands and river basins of Manipur.The six carcasses sent for verification at High Security Avian Diseases Laboratory, Bhopal were of Red Legged Falcon recovered from Barak basin of Tamenglong whereas the blood samples were collected from migratory and domestic birds of Moreh, Tamenglong, Loktak and other places.However, till date there has been no confirmed case of avian flu infection in Manipur even as the State Government has taken up various precautionary measures to check outbreak of the dreaded disease.
