Imphal, December 06:
Strongly condemning the merciless killing of four Meiteis at Kangpokpi area on December 3, Women and Children Welfare Council (Terakeithel) has called upon State level organisations to take the matter seriously.
Recalling that such brutal murder of innocent civilians had been taken place at an alarming frequency in the hill areas, the Council did not rule out involvement of armed outfits with anti-Meitei agenda in the executions and cited slaying and burying of two at Churachandpur in the beginning of this year followed by killings at Pallel Bazar (cinema hall proprietor), involuntary disappearance of three thang-ta artistes at Ukhrul and the gunning down of one RK Pratap while the victim was returning home from Dimapur.
Fervently appealing to apex Kuki bodies to check killing of innocent persons in their areas, the Council also urged Imphal-based organisations to do the needful in order to prevent escalation of tension amongst various communities living in the State.
