The office building of the DIC general manager, Thoubal district which has been under construction since 1987 at an estimated cost of Rs 23 lakhs under Directorate of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur has been finally inaugurated today.
The inaugural function of the office building occupying only 0.25 acres of land was attended by Commerce and Industries Minister N Mangi as chief guest, MLA of Thoubal A/C L Tomba as president and Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries PC Lawnkunga and Director of Commerce and Industries Dhiraj Yumnam as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Mangi said the construction of the office building has been completed despite the financial constraint faced by the Department because of the support and co-operation of the people.
Many of the industries that have been set up in Manipur by the past Govts have come to nothing due to lack of proper planning, he charged, adding that the situation is different now as the present Govt has adopted new policies and programmes for giving more thrust in setting up small scale industries which are being operated successfully.
Dwelling on Look East Po licy of the Govt of India, the Minister hoped that it would help in development of Manipuri society.
So every efforts should be made to reap the benefit, he exhorted.
