Imphal, February 04 2016:
A 47-year-old man has accused the 2nd OC of Nambol police station of thrashing him for enquiring why police arrested his younger brother.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, the man identified as L Ranjan s/o L Mangi of Nambol Chingmang Bamdiyar said that his younger brother L Joy (38) was arrested by Nambol police at around 10 am yesterday.
As he was clueless why Joy was pulled up by the police, he went to Nambol police station to enquire the reason, Ranjan said.
However, at the police station, the 2nd OC not only verbally abused him but also beat him up due to which he was hospitalised at RIMS hospital, Ranjan alleged.
Later, he came to know that his brother was arrested in connection with the death of a dog owned by one Sarangthem Sanatombi (40) s/o (L) Bheigo of the same locality.
The dog is suspected to have eaten poison-laced sweetmeats kept at Joy's rice mill located inside his residential complex.
Joy scatters poison-laced sweetmeats to kill mice and rats, Ranjan said.
