Imphal, June 10:
Even as the State Cabinet has decided to reduce Value Added Tax charged on petrol, diesel and LPG following hike in prices of these commodities, petrol and diesel are being sold at the increased rate fixed by the Central Government.
The IOC is also providing fuel to oil pumps at the increased rate.
Regarding non-reduction in prices of petrol and diesel even as the State Government has slashed VAT levied on these commodities, a source informed that the Government should first fix prices of petrol and diesel after taking into account the reduction in VAT.
