Imphal, June 10:
To ensure that the resentment of the people on the Congress led SPF Government do not mount up, necessary correction should be made after proper study of any possible lapses, MPCC president Gaikhangam has stated while addressing a joint block level Congress workers' conference at Synod Hall in Churachandpur today.
Speaking at the day-long conference organised jointly by the Block Congress Committees of Churachandpur, Thanlon and Tipaimukh, Gaikhangam observed that whether it is on the style of functioning of the Government on the line that the people would be satisfied by taking up lot of activities or in keeping the people in the dark on the activities being taken up, the resentment of the people on the Government is quite obvious.
So it would be necessary to find out any possible lapses and take up corrective measures to ensure that the resentment of the people does not mount up.
To avoid the situation wherein one receives brickbats instead of accolades for all the works done, the Government should chart out strategies so that it can work in the interest of the party and the people, Gaikhangam suggested.
Pointing out that various complaints have been received in connection with not giving any prior information to the District and Block presidents when party Ministers and MLAs conduct tour of their respective Assembly Constituencies, MPCC president observed that along with frequent touring of the Constituencies and taking into confidence the party workers on the development programmes, paying a short visit to the party offices would help not only in promoting relationship but also in strengthening the party.
When the existing unstable situation in India as well as in Manipur which is characterised by lack of trust among the people and absence of peace and normalcy in daily life has started having its bearings on politics, it should be understood by all that only a handful of people would not be able to lead to the right direction, Gaikhangam said, exhorting party workers to introspect whether they are being truthful to the party principles or not.
Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, who was also present at the occasion, explained that the party workers' conference is being organised as a preparation for the Lok upcoming Sabha election.
With special consideration of the poor people , the Congress led UPA Government has launched National Rural Employment guarantee Scheme throughout the country and has waived off the due loan amount of Rs 60 crores for the farmers, Phungzathang said, while expressing gratitude to the Congress led Government.
People should also come up with suggestions on the performance of the Congress led SPF Government in the State as well as on their further expectation from the Government, Phungzathang exhorted.
Among the resolutions adopted, the conference resolved that the present Congress led SPF Government be urged to take up development work such as road construction, supply of drinking water, power, agriculture, education, etc.
Taking serious view of the problem of bamboo flowering in Churachandpur district, the conference also resolved that the State Government be urged to extend maximum possible means to solve the problem of the affected people.
