Imphal, August 06 2010:
After 972 metric tonnes of rice were brought to Jiribam by train yesterday, another train carrying 18 coaches carrying rice arrived at Jiribam station today too.
With freight train service steadily ferrying rice to Jiribam, rice stock at FCI Jiribam godown has improved considerably.
Noting the continuous transportation of rice both by train and trucks, the Transporters' and Drivers' Council has highlighted the need to enhance the capacity of Jiribam FCI godown at the earliest.
The TDC has also appealed to all transporters plying along NH-53 to bear with the difficulties for sometime together.
