Imphal, September 29 2014 :
Taking strong exception to the rejection of nomination papers filed by MPTC candidate Y Thambou for the Hiyanglam by-election, the party has decided to take recourse to legal options.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Y Thambou's Advocate Gautam Sharma noted that the RO rejected his client's nomination papers because Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress was not found in the Election Commission of India's gazette and the general secretary's name who signed on Form A was not found on the ECI's website.
Maintaining that MPTC is a political party already recognised by the Election Commission of India, Gautam contended that the grounds for rejection were not justifiable enough.
