Imphal, August 11, 2012:
While drawing the attention of the state government to the inconveniences and hardships being faced by TB patients on account of the ongoing cease work strike by contractual staff under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), Mass United Green Association (MUGA) appealed to the state government to resolve the issue at the earliest possible in the interest of the poor TB patients.
MUGA, in a press release signed by its Secretary, S Bijeta, pointed out that the TB patients are being charged high amount while conducting sputum check at private hospitals and clinics.
On the other hand, many TB patients are on the brink of falling prey to Multi Drug Resistent (MDR) TB after they failed to get the free drugs provided by RNTCP through DOTS Centres.
In such a situation, the state government should realise the matter and take up certain actions to save the TB patients while initiating talks with the striking contractual staff, the release added.
