Imphal, August 11, 2012:
Against the backdrop of the Nagaland legislators and MPs offering to form a partyless interim Govt in Nagaland prior to the State Assembly next year, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) reaffirmed that it would stiffly oppose and will not remain a silent spectator in case there is any hidden agenda to disturb the territorial integrity of NE states particularly Manipur.
Though the UCM would heartily welcome the move of the Nagaland legislators if it is merely intended to bring peace in Nagaland, the UCM would however register stiff opposition if it is against the interest of the people of neighbouring states particularly Manipur, a UCM statement signed by Ng Deba Meitei, secretary of IPR said.
Prime Minister of India and other top leaders would be held responsible for any outcome, it stated.
The UCM statement said that stiff opposition has been raised to the Central Government against any move to alter the territorial boudary of neighbouring states especially Manipur by organising rallies, raising slogans and launching several mass movements.
