Sadar Hills, November 29 2016:
Protesting the 'vile betrayal' of the Sadar Hills issue and following the instruction of the JAC for Sadar Hills, all Congress party leaders and workers of Kangpokpi Block today resigned from the Congress party.
The resignation letter submitted to the president, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) was signed by president, Kangpokpi Block Congress Committee, Tongkholal Hangshing, vice president Haokhochon Haokip, general secretary PT Zaipou, president Kangpokpi Block Mahila Congress Committee, Kimboi Lhouvum and secretary Nemvah Lupheng on behalf of the party unit leaders and workers.
It said that the last minute roll back of the decision to declare Sadar Hills as a full-fledged district was an insult to all the Congress workers of Kangpokpi and added "we are ashamed to remain a part of the party." Therefore, all the Congress party leaders and workers of Kangpokpi block collectively and unanimously decided to resign from the party, it added.
Meanwhile, the Congress party leaders and workers who tendered their resignation today conveyed their support to the newly formed Sadar Hills Democratic Party by the ADC Sadar Hills Councillors and their amalgamation with Sadar Hills Democratic Party is likely within a few days.
