Imphal, November 29 2016:
The Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh today charged Chief Minister Okram Ibobi of instigating communal tension in the State.
At a press meet held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office today Thongju AC MLA Th Bishorjit said the allegations thrown at Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at a political conference held at Naoriya Pakhanglakpa on November 27 is completely baseless.
"The Chief Minister seem to have lost his senses owing to the number of issues prevalent in the State", he said.
At a juncture where the leaders of the State should come together and decide what is best for the people, the Chief Minister is attending political conference and defaming the Prime Minister.
The MLA questioned the Congress' agenda behind bringing up the peace talk between the NSCN IM and the Government of India in the political campaign.
The people should know that it was Congress leaders like Rishang Keishing and Gaikhangam that signed a document which endorsed the demand for Naga integration.
The Chief Minister in his speech at a political conference held at Naori Pakhanglakpa on November 27 had said that the ongoing indefinite economic blockade being imposed on the National Highways leading to Manipur is instigated by the NDA Government led by BJP and NSCN-IM which are under a cease fire agreement.
MLA Th Bishorjit said instead of blaming the NDA Government led by BJP for the blockade, the Chief Minister should focus on what should be done to sort out the matter and to ensure peace in the land.
The MLA also criticized the Chief MInister for opposing the demonetisation move by the Prime Minister.
He said, demonetisation will root out black money form the Nation.
"To achieve something great, we all must make some sacrifices.
It was unwise on the part of the Congress to pick at the demonetization move by the Prime Minister," he said.
BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Professor S Tiken has called for an open debate on Congress party's allegation of BJP inviting the June 18 civil uprising.
The BJP will support Congress led State Government in any developmental works for the welfare of the people.
Indulging in cheap politics to gain political mileage, however, is unacceptable, he said.
Using the peace talk between the NSCN IM and the Government of India to tarnish the image of the BJP is sub-standard politics.
The State Government has not been able to take any action against the outfit till date despite the knowledge that they have set up designated camps at the hill districts of the State.
