Film festival cum workshop from March 27

Imphal, March 25 2017:
A nine -day film festival cum film making workshop will be conducted by the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of Manipur, Manipur State Film Development Society and Film Society of Manipur at MSFDS auditorium, Palace Gate starting March 27 .
Speaking to mediapersons at MSFDS auditorium, eminent documentary film maker Joshy Joseph, Deputy Director General of Films Division stated that the workshop would be the sixth series to be held in the North East.
Besides the workshop, Mumbai International Film Festival award winning films will be screened.
Director General of Films Division Manish Desai said, "Manipur has a vibrant film culture and therefore Imphal is a natural choice for holding such workshop.
This kind of film screening and workshop are part of the outreach initiatives of Films Division in order to popularise non-feature films particularly documentaries in the country" .
Eminent film-maker Haobam Paban Kumar said that though the duration of the workshop is short, it would certainly help budding film enthusiasts.
Meghachandra Kongbam, Director of information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur stated that Manipur needs a strong film society movement in order to provide a firm platform for Manipuri cinema to grow.
During the workshop, participants will be divided into two groups and each group will be making a film each under the mentorship of various resource persons including Sumit Ghosh (editing), Manesh Madhavan (camera), Aruit Dutta (sound) and Joshy Joseph (direction) and R Ravi (technical support) .
