Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has stated that all State Governments should comply with the Supreme Court directives on implementation of Majithia Wage Board.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the two-day 8th plenary session of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) at the Convention Centre of KIIT University, Odisha today, Bandaru Dattatreya maintained that tripartite committees should be constituted for all States without any further delay.
IJU president SN Sinha urged the Union Labour Minister to ensure full implementation of Majithia Wage Board, amendment of Working Journalist Act and protection of journalist fraternity.
Responding to the appeal Bandaru Dattatreya while noting that the existing Working Journalist Act does not encompass journalists working in electronic media, assured that the same Act would be amended soon so that they (electronic media) are also brought under the ambit of the Act.
The plenary session where former Nagaland Chief Minister and incumbent Odisha Governor SC Jamir was also present, elected AMWJU vice-president Ratan Luwangcha as the National Secretary of the Indian Journalists Union.
