Imphal, June 20 2013:
The Indigenous Kuki People's Forum (IKPF) has finalised social activist Lien Gangte as the Forum's nominee to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Making the announcement at a press conference convened today at Manipur Press Club, Forum president Renghang Chothe proclaimed that Lien Gangte as well as the Forum would work for restoring the age-old cordiality amongst the indigenous communities.
Describing Lien as an individual committed to promoting egalitarian development of the Kuki, Naga and Meitei people, Renghang asserted that success of the Forum candidate in the parliamentary elections, scheduled next year, would bring about positive transformation to the Manipuri society.
Listing societal transformation and administrative transparency as vital components of good governance, he regretted partial attitudes of people's representatives.
Iterating that an MP should possess qualities for social reform rather than electing individuals who have parochial outlook and agenda, the president exuded confidence that Lien Gangte would be able to bring about socio-political and religious transformations.
