UG camp busted, UG cadre surrendered

Security Forces of Red Shield Division reportedly busted a Terrorist Camp located in the thick jungles along Leimatek River in Tamenglong district on 18 Jun 2013 .
According to a statement issued by PRO Defence Wing, based on information about presence of a likely UG Camp along Leimatak River, troops of RED SHIELD DIVISION carried out large scale combing operations, thus, resulting in recovery of a huge quantity of explosive materials which could have been used to cause large scale damage to civilians and Security Forces.
The recoveries included 8 Improvised Explosive Devices, 45 electronic detonators, 7 Kg of Plastic Explosives, 2 meters of safety fuze, 2 bundles of trip wire, 4 Radio Sets of ICOM and RIZHONGLONG make with batteries, 5 MOTOROLA Antennaes, 1 Binocular, 1 Portable Generator Set Corola 1.5 KVA, Self Loading Rifle Magazines, 31 live cartridges of 9mm and a large quantity of rations, the PRO said.
The camp was a well established setup catering for training and rest and recoup of terrorists which had more than fifteen structures including living shelters, perimeter protection, cooking and sanitation facilities.
The security forces dismantled the camp and destroyed explosives and ration stores on completion of the operation.
This success against the proscribed groups has dealt a severe blow to their nefarious intentions and will go a long way in preserving peace in the area, the PRO added.
Meanwhile, an active cadre of PULF (Azad) Army No 146, SS 2nd Lt Samar Khan alias Sheikh (34) S/o Late Abdulhei reportedly surrendered to the troops of Red Shield Division on June 18 .
The terrorist surrendered along with a 9mm Pistol, 1 Magazine and 2 rounds of 9mm. He joined the banned outfit in Jan 2006, at Mandu, District Tamengoing where he was trained for three months from Jan to Mar 2009 alongwith 32 other recruits, the PRO (Defence Wing) informed in a statement.
