Talking to media persons before being whisked away, Thangboi said that the Assam Rifles personnel attacked him all of a sudden while he was staying with 10 other people yesterday evening.
He escaped from the attack with an injury on his hand and finally reached the Hospital.
The personnel of Assam Rifles searched extensively for the injured KNF (P) cadre and finally traced him at the Kuki Christian Hospital.
However, the team of 40-Assam Rifles returned from the Hospital after informing the Superintendent of Police concerned about the presence of the injured cadre.
A police team led by OC of Imphal PS came to the Hospital just after the departure of the Assam Rifles team.
However, the OC informed media persons that the cadre was injured while cleaning his gun at the designated camp of KNF (P) .
Other cadres of this Kuki outfit tried hard to make the injured cadre meet with media persons.
Some two/three reporters went inside the hospital to meet the cadre in the first instance, but later they were not allowed inside the Hospital campus.
In the evening, an MLA was spotted coming to the Hospital in a vehicle bearing the flag post accompanied by another vehicle.
The injured cadre was later carried away from the Hospital in the MLA's vehicle.
At that time, one Minister was also seen at the Hospital.
However, the Minister left the Hospital after he was informed that the MLA had carried away the injured cadre.
It may be mentioned that the injured cadre belongs to a Kuki UG outfit which is a signatory of Suspension of Operation (SoO) and currently undergoing trilateral peace talks with the Union and State government.
