Global Action Month 2020 observed

The Centre for Women and Girls (CWG) has observed the Global Action.
Month 2020 under the theme "Ecological Rights of Children" today at the Corner Stone Academy, Lhunnajang, Tengnoupal district.
Hechin Haokip (Secretary CWG) delivered the keynote address on how children and youth of the Terre des Hommes' International Youth Network (IYN) first initiated the Global Action Month on Child Rights in 2014 .
Every November since then has been widely observed globally as the anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The CWG with children and adolescent groups started observing this event annually, highlighting the ecological rights of children.
This year, close to a hundred children and adolescents from CWG's different project villages of Tengnoupal district participated in the event.
17 boys and girls took part in the slogan-writing competition.
Another 23 children participated in the drawing session under the theme "Ecological Rights of Children" .
The slogans and drawings were later presented to the larger group.
There was a quiz session, and short documentary movies on the climate crisis and the ecological rights of children were screened.
CWG also felicitated 11 adolescents who were recently awarded in the District-level Online Painting Competition on the theme "Our fundamental duties amid the COVID-19 pandemic" held in the month of August 2020 (conducted by District Legal Services Authority Chandel, GoM) and in the Online District Level Slogan Writing competition on the theme "Sustaining all life on earth" in September 2020 (conducted by the Deputy Conservator of Forest, Tengnoupal Forest Division, GoM).
The CWG provided materials like drawing paper and color pencils, and assisted them in online registration, uploading their drawings and slogans and other supporting documents.
