Imphal, September 13 2014 :
The Tangkhul Students Union (TKS) has expressed shock over sidelining of the August 30 incident in which two people were killed in police firing at Ukhrul district by the State Cabinet, reports our Ukhrul correspondent.
Although, the State Cabinet has taken its decision to hand over the assassination case of Ukhrul ADC Member Ngalangzar Malue and recent ambushes on Manipur police commandos to NIA, the killing of two innocent people in police firing on August 30 has been intentionally ignored, the student's body said.
In the aftermath of the assassination of Ngalangzar at Finch Corner, the State Government immediately militarized Ukhrul town in addition to imposition of Section 144 CrPC, it added.
Refuting Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam's statement on deployment of IRB personnel in Ukhrul, TKS said that the district already has enough strength of State police, Manipur Rifles and para-military personnel.
TKS would continue to work for the people, safeguard tribal rights, support peaceful and honourable solution of Naga issue, uphold justice, equality and peaceful co-existence irrespective of tribes, the statement added.
