SPIC MACAY calls for participation

The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) a non-political nation-wide voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture has called for participation from youths of Manipur in the ongoing movement spread across 500 towns in India and abroad.
Founder of SPIC MACAY Prof Kiran Seth who is on a two day visit to the State, during an interactive session with media persons at St Anthony High School at Sangakpham today highlighted the various plans and projects of the SPIC MACAY .

He said, "SPIC MACAY is planning to take the movement to each and every youths of the country including Manipur by 2020 covering all schools and colleges" .
SPIC MACAY has embarked on a movement to conserve and promote and spread awareness of the rich cultural tapestry of India among the youths through focus on classical arts with its rituals, mythology and philosophy.
SPIC MACAY is a non-profit, voluntary, non-political and participatory student movement spread across different parts of the country organizing various concerts, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, informal discussions, and talks by eminent scholars and thinkers at regular intervals at schools and colleges.
As part of the movement SPIC MACAY Imphal Chapter will host a sitar concert wherin famous sitarist Ustad Sahid Parvez Khan will perform on November 13 at Raj Bhavan, Imphal and at HRD Academy, Ghari on November 14 .
The well known sitarist will leave for another concert the same day at Guwahati and Shillong, he added.
He urged the students to participate in the National School Intesive Programme organized by SPIC MACAY to be held from December 24 to 30 at New Town School, Kolkata.
There are a variety of scholarship schemes for school and college students between the age of 14 to 26 years where they can take part in number of programmes organized by SPIC MACAY.
SPIC MACAY has organized over 5000 events in over 500 towns in India and abroad last year and this year the international convention will be held at IIT Delhi.
He urged the attending youths to be a part of the movement of SPIC MACAY.
