Imphal, November 12 2016:
Imphal-bound loaded oil tankers stranded at different places outside the State on account of the indefinite economic blockade being imposed by the UNC will take the Silchar route before heading for Imphal on Jiribam-Imphal highway.
A decision to this effect was adopted at meeting held this morning with Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, high ranking police officers, CAF&PD officials, officials of IOC and representatives of transport organisations.
It was also decided to take up adequate security measures for loaded tankers currently stranded at Guwahati so that they can move on Jiribam-Imphal highway safely after reaching Silchar.
It is reported that the Government has been considering to escort loaded trucks currently stranded at Mao Gate up to Imphal at the earliest.
