Dimapur, May 01 2012:
The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has voiced its opposition to the proposed visit of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, to Nagaland on May 1 .
In a press note issued, the outfit said as the Imperial power from 16th to 20th century, the British Government had stated very clearly that the Nagas were not Indians and their country was not a part of India.
"But on your departure from your South Asian Empire in 1947, your government dissected Naga country into two pieces and gave them as if presents to Burma (Myanmar) and India," it said.
