Imphal, April 23:
Pledging to pursue the goal of replacing Bengali script text books with Meetei Mayek at any cost the proscribed KCP declared that from May 1 onwards Minister, MLAs and officials especially concerned with the Education Department would be targeted in case of noncompliance to the outfit's April 30 deadline for implementation of Meetei Mayek.
Observing that people of Manipur should contribute their mite in achieving the cherished goal, KCP termed as ironic inaction of the SPF Government on the issue, said a press statement issued by its mobile task force commander MK Mangang.
Maintaining that genuineness of demand for implementation of Meetei Mayek in the school curricula is indisputable and appropriate measures should be adopted without further delay, KCP questioned the wisdom and rational of persistence with Bengali script when Manipur has its own script and language.
Allaying any apprehension on whether the Meetei Mayek agitation spearhead MEELAL and the outfit are connected, MK Mangang denying the preconceived notion asserted that the organisation was formed to safeguard the interest of the people of Manipur within which enrichment of the script too occupies an undeniable spot.
As KCP's principle is honouring the sentiment and upholding the aspiration of the people supporting the MEELAL cause is considered as appropriate and more importantly indispensable duty of the outfit, it said and called upon all concerned to shed differences and strive for revival of the Manipur's rich heritage significant portion of which could be achieved through implementation of Meetei mayek.
On public resentment against the burning down of State Central Library building by MEELAL activists, the KCP highlighted futility of prolong lamentation as no amount of repentance could restore the library's stature.
It would be more positive if concerted effort is made for revival and development of Meetei Mayek, added the statement.
