Speaking as chief guest of the function after inaugurating the celebration by unfurling a white flag on which the name of the village was printed, Rajendro observed that there can be peace and mutual co-operation among the people when there is equal development in both the hill and the valley areas of the State.
While pointing out that Manipur cannot claim itself to be a developed State by developing only the Imphal city, Rajendro said ICHAM has been touring the remote areas of the hill districts to find out the problems being faced by people living there so as to ensure equal distribution of wealth and development.
He also sought the co-operation of the people in the efforts being made by ICHAM.
In his presidential address, village chief Singtallang Jajo pointed out that since its establishment in 1958, no Government representative have ever visited the village inhabited by Tangkhul community to look into the problems being faced by the people.
Hence the people have also not received any benefit from the side of the Government and the village remains steep in underdevelopment.
Over and above this, shifting of the SDC office from Island village in 1985 has caused lot of inconveniences to more than 15,000 people living in 120 villages under the jurisdiction of the SDC office apart from not receiving any benefits.
He also drew the attention of the Govent and its authorities concerned for taking up necessary measures in this regard to ameliorate the difficulties of the people.
In continuation of the programme, the chief guest and the president distributed footballs, volleyballs and nets to the representatives of village youth club and cultural dances and songs were presented by various cultural troupes.
