Imphal, September 22:
With Bangladesh and the Czech Republic showing keen interest on investing in food processing industry of the State, the Ministry of DoNER and the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India are jointly organising 'Invest Mart' at New Delhi next month to promote and encourage more investment in the North Eastern States.
An official source informed The Sangai Express that many established firms under Commerce and Industries, taking due notice of the serious interest shown by investors in the North Eastern States, which have good potential for several industries, have come forward to facilitate direct interaction between these investors and the North Eastern States.
To woo investors with the rich potential available for establishment of several industries in the North East region, the ministry of DoNER and the Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India are jointly organising the "Invest Mart" on October 14 and 15 at New Delhi.
The "Invest Mart" will focus on investment in such sectors as infrastructure, power, tourism, information technology, food processing and handloom and handicrafts.
With regard to the scheduled "Invest Mart" aimed at encouraging private investors to invest in the North East region, the organisers have sought details about areas/sectors the State Government is planning to highlight at the Manipur Information stall at the mart.
Meanwhile, the Planning Department has already sought approval from the Chief Minister to participate in the "Invest Mart".
On the other hand, Bangladesh and the Czech Republic have shown keen interest to invest in the food processing industry of the State.
This was conveyed to the State officials during the fourth North East Business Summit organised jointly by the DoNER Ministry and the Indian Chamber of Commerce at Guwahati on September 15 and 16 .
During the summit which was also attended by ambassadors of Bangladesh and the Czech Republic, VISA Steel conveyed their interest to set up a mining unit in the State.
Moreover, ILF offered to build 5 star and 3 star hotels in Manipur so as to help the State promote tourism industry, informed the source.
Even as the State failed to gain anything substantial from the three North East Business summits held earlier, many are confident that Manipur would certainly get some benefits from the Guwahati Summit held this year.
