Imphal, December 16:
The proscribed KCP captured two impostors for extorting a sum of Rs 1.10 lakh from the Manipur AIDS Control Society in the name of the outfit.
Producing the impostors before newsmen somewhere at Imphal East yesterday, a spokesman of the outfit said that the two were held while trying to extort another sum of Rs 90,000 from MACS in the name of the KCP.
The two are identified as Sagolsem Shyamananda (28) of Nongada Shantipur Makha Leikai and Gurumayum Premjit of Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak.
Shyamananda informed the newsmen that they collected Rs 1.10 lakh from an employee of MACS in the name of KCP's finance secretary Nganba Mangcha last year.
Shyamananda said he was told to collect the money by his elder brother S Ngouba.
He received Rs 3 thousand as his cut, said Shyamananda.
The two were captured by KCP cadres while Shyamananda along with his friend G Premjit were trying to take another Rs 90 thousand from the same employee.
Premjit said that he was not involved in the earlier instance when Shyamananda took Rs 1.10 lakh but added that he joined Shyamananda yesterday.
A statement issued by the KCP yesterday said the two were nabbed by a team of KCP Action Command Task Force under SM Meitei.
The two were let off after stern warning not to repeat such acts, said the statement.
