Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has assured to extend all possible help and support from the Govt to implement beneficial schemes for the retired army personnel of the State.
Speaking as the chief guest at the observance of Vijay Divas (Victory day) today at the office premises of Rajya Sainik Board Lamphelpat, Chief Minister O Ibobi while pointing out that many of the ex-servicemen in the State are young, and energetic sought concrete suggestions from the Rajya Sainik Board on what way the State Government could utilize them in feasible jobs.
The Govt is ready and willing to take up different welfare schemes for the ex-servicemen, Ibobi said that the Govt will always welcome suggestions and Opinions provided for the welfare of the ex-servicemen.
While honouring the supreme sacrifice made by the Indian army during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971, Ibobi said "We should always remember them and honour they courage in our hearts".
He also gave a brief account on how the country intervened and liberated Bangladesh from Pakistan during the early seventies.
In his presidential speech, Arts and Culture Minister Ph Parijat said that the day will always be remembered as the great victory day for the Indian army and also sought consultative suggestions from the retired army personnel for improving the conditions of the ex-servicemen.
Earlier the State dignitaries along with various retired personnel paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the Indo Pak war at the board premises.
Some retired army officer who took part in the said war recapitulated their shocking experiences encountered at their respective war fronts.
They also lamented the Govt's indifferent attitude on the Sainik Board.
