Most of the displaced villagers from nearby areas of Tousem sub-division who were taking shelter at Tamenglong district headquarters since the last few days have begun to return to their respective villages as the gun-fight between rival factions of the NSCN has subsided considerably, said an official source.
The villagers from Azuram, Chramram and Thuilon had taken 'refuge at relief camps opened at the district headquarters from December 8 onwards as violent clashes broke out between the IM and K factions of the NSCN.
The source also informed that 35 Assam Rifles personnel have been posted at Azuram village.
The security personnel are currently aiding the district administration to rehabilitate the affected villagers.
The villagers who have started coming back to their homesteads include those stranded near the Barak River bank and along the road leading to the district headquarters.
Due to the violence, marriage ceremony of a Chramram villager named as Namdidinang with Ningjwangliu has been deferred to January month.
Both the future life partner had taken shelter at the district headquarters relief camps and were among the villagers to have returned home.
