Touching on a wide range of issues on the developmental front the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said Government would acquire requisite land at Keishampat junction areas for construction of a four lane fly-over.
Asserting that within March, next development work taken up by the SPF Government would be glaringly evident he nevertheless rued that due to law and order and financial problem development lagged behind for the last two years of SPF governance.
The CM was addressing the gathering at the one day City District Block Level Political Training Camp of the Congress party at GM Hall today.
With the formation of the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre monetary assistance had been regularised and some of the serious financial problem faced by the State Government could be described as slightly better, observed the CM.
He also conveyed that in order to utilise the State budgetary allocation in a proper and constructive manner meetings are being convened on bimonthly basis to discuss on development programmes.
Regretting against the previous assumption that the ongoing fly-over from Uripok till BT Road will be only double laned, Ibobi said strong instructions have been issued to officials of construction agency National Building Construction Corporation to complete the work without further delay.
Announcing that another fly-over proposed at Keishampat will be of four-lane traffic, Ibobi said necessary eviction drive would be launched at Keishampat area to acquire land proportionate to the fly-over size.
On acquisition of Palace Compound land previously occupied by Surana Motors for construction of a 1000 seater Cultural Conference Center, Ibobi informed of compensation amount already at the State account which would be paid to deserving owner as per the verdict of the ongoing legal dispute.
Assuring that plots currently occupied by the women vendors at Khwairamband Keithel would be safeguarded at all cost, the Chief Minister also reiterated of the Central Government having released Rs 45 crore for the three multi-storeyed market complex at the hub of the commercial area.
Regarding the Congress party organisation, Ibobi exulted at the fact that from the election of only 20 party MLAs in the last assembly election the number of party MLA had swelled to 33 thereby having the majority figure and capable of standing on its own strength.
He, however, hastened to add that inspite of reaching the majority figure there is no question of betraying coalition partner of the SPF Government as Congress do not believe in dumping those who had jointly faced inconveniences during the inception period.
Exuding confidence that with the Congress Governments at both the State and the Centre more concerted effort could be made on the developmental front while lashing out at the and national elements frequently scuffling aspiration of the masses for a prosperous Manipur.
