The United Naga Council (UNC) has said that the participation of more than 800 village chiefs from Manipur at the home-coming function of the collective leadership of the NSCN-IM at Dimapur on Dec-14 was an ample proof that the Naga people of Manipur desire the unification of Naga territories under one administrative unit.
The mass participation also showed that they want an hohourable solution to the Indo-Naga conflict.
In a statement issued by UNC president P Modoli, the Naga body said "the presence of more than 800 village chiefs from Manipur is the further reiteration of the firm stand of the Naga people from Manipur for the unification of Naga territories under one administrative unit and for the honourable solution to the Indo-Naga conflict".
The UNC expressed its gratitude to all the village chiefs for taking part in the programme.
It also expressed its gratitude to the South Nagas Union of Nagaland Sate (SNUNS) and its constituent units for the warm reception provided to the village chiefs throughout their stay in Dimapur.
The UNC has also extended its Christmas and New Year greetings to all concerned.
Meanwhile, The Zeliangrong Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland has also expressed its sincere gratitude to the village chairman, the youth club and the women society of the Zeliangrong Village in Dhobila, Dimapur for rendering their valuable services to all the Zeliangrong delegates from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland to welcome the "homecoming" of the NSCN-IM leaders.
Chairman of the NSCN (IM) Isak Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah arrived at Dimapur on December 14 to seek the opinion and views of the Naga people in thrashing out a solution to the age old Naga conflict.
