While admitting loopholes in the existing Education System of the State, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Francis Ngajopka has called for a joint effort in combating the ills afflicting the system.
Speaking as chief guest of the RANK (Race for Awareness and Knowledge) and BOLT (Broad Outlook-Leaner Teacher) Awards presentation function held at the banquet hall of 1st MR this morning, the Minister assured all possible help from his side as Minister of Higher and Technical Education in improving ailing education system of the State.
Taking serious note of the observations made by some of the awardees on the standard of education in Singapore while sharing their experiences of the Ambassadorial visit to the Island nation from October 6 to 9 last, the Minister observed that Manipuris are in no way inferior to Singaporean, and we could become develop not in the field of education but also in other areas, if we are more committed and hard working.
The shortcomings in the existing education system as pointed out to him by the awardees are rather encouraging for him to work more for the betterment of education in the State,he added.
The Minister also expressed gratitude to Air-India, which has instituted the awards and supported by Singapore Tourism Board.
Earlier while giving the welcome address, Sales Manager of Air India Bhaskar Singh Roy said the RANK award for students and the BOLT awards for teachers were instituted to recognise excellence outside the field of academic and are designed to ignite the creative talents amongst the students and question how the teacher packages his/her lessons so that learning can become fun, motivating and exciting, thus empowering the students to reach out to the future.
Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Dr N Bijoy Singh who presided over the function, Director Air India Jitender Bhargava and Gopal Sharma, the editor of Poknapham Daily, the media partner of Air India in Manipur also spoke at the occasion.
