Imphal, June 06 2016:
The Court order of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West to grant custody of a two year old boy to his mother was allegedly denied and the mother and her family are now urging right thinking citizens of Manipur to extend support in delivering justice.
The incident unfolded after Thiyam (ningol) Laishram (ongbi) Gayatri Devi of Keishamthong Laishom Leirak filed a case against her husband Laishram Ronald s/o Dr Laishram Surkumar of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak for legal guardianship of their only two year old son Buana Laishram.
Narrating the incidents to media persons at RIMS after Gayatri was admitted following medical complications, Thiyam Deepa immediate sister of Gayatri said that the couple had some incidents of domestic violence while they were living at Bangalore.
She alleged that Ronald was an alcoholic and harassed Gayatri regularly.
Following the suffering Gayatri shifted to her brother's residence somewhere in Bangalore to buy some time until her parents return and sort out the issue.
She added that on May 24, Gayatri's mother-in-law and husband visited and took away the child on the pretext of visiting nearby tourist spots and spend the evening.
To that Gayatri pleaded to return the child by evening as he was only two years old and needs care and attention from his mother.
Ronald and his family members cheated and kidnapped Gayatri's son and threatened that they will not give the child to her at any cost, she narrated.
Gayatri took the legal course of action and on June 4, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West granted the legal permission to have custody of the child.
But family members of Ronald have failed to comply or respect the Court's honour and now Ronald's entire family members are absconding.
They have twisted the Court's order and asked their legal counsel to appeal for a further hearing on June 10 which is questionable on how it could happen when the Court has already announced the verdict, she said.
Their arrogance has mentally tortured Gayatri, Deepa alleged.
She added that even though her family complied with the law and took the legal path, they are now helpless and urged the people to extend their help in tracing Gayatri's son.
