Imphal, June 06 2016:
The indefinite bandh called at Singjamei Bazar and adjoining areas in denunciation of the declaration of former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan as a wanted man with cash reward of Rs five lakh on the charge of having nexus with a UG group continued today too.
While all types of vehicles were blocked by bandh supporters on either side of Singjamei bridge, pedestrians were subjected to intense questioning before they were allowed to cross the bridge.
On account of the bandh which came into effect since June 4 midnight, Singjamei Bazar remained shut for the second consecutive day.
Singjamei Kongba road was also blocked at Khongman Mangjil junction.
However, the bandh had no impact on Singjamei Super Market and Singjamei parking.
A large number of bandh supporters most of whom were women gathered together on Singjamei bridge and shouted many slogans such as "We don't accept the charges made against Ratan", "Please declare us as wanted people", "Enforce ILPS in Manipur" etc.
They also condemned the alleged vulgar and offensive words used by police against women bandh supporters yesterday.
After an image which showed Ratan holding a flag of a UG group was uploaded in a social networking site, Manipur police declared him as a wanted man with a cash reward of Rs five lakh to any one who can provide information leading to his arrest.
