Imphal, August 03 2009:
Amidst the economic blockade of ATSUM and SDSA and the general strike of the Apunba Lup over different demands, 220 goods laden Tata trucks and 6 Mini trucks, all Imphal bound, have reportedly crossed the Mao Gate under security at around 3.30 pm today.
According to information received by the press, the goods carriers have reached Kanglatongbi at around 7 pm.
Sources from SDSA said that the goods carriers have been allowed to leave at around 10 am in consideration of the difficulties faced by the stranded drivers.
According to another source, 10 oil tankers which arrived at Khuzuma Gate of Nagaland late in the afternoon today have crossed Mao Gate.
Police sources said efforts are being made to escort back around 100 oil tankers stationing at Khuzuma.
It may be noted here that transporters have decided to go on an indefinite Chakka bandh from tomorrow in protest against the failure of the State Government to repair the deplorable condition of the road and ensure security along the route.
