Based on specific information, troops of 34 AR of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) established mobile vehicle check post in Yairipok-Thoubal area and apprehended three PULF cadres today, according to a statement issued by AR PRO .
Identifying the arrested PULF cadres as S/S Sgt Md Ahamed Hussain (31) s/o Md Midayettullah of Yairipok Tulihal Heong, SS Cpl Md Anwar Shah (38) s/o Md Midayettullah of Tulihal Mayai Leikai and SS Pvt Md Abdul Shah (38) s/o Md Abdul Manap of Oinam Sawombung Mayai leikai, the PRO claimed two hand grenades, one Honda Activa (registration No.MN01Q6579) one mobile phone (Nokia) and a sum of Rs 3,970 in cash have been recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals, who were later handed over to Thoubal Police Station along with the recovered items.
It has been learnt that the arrested individuals have been involved in extortion and threatening people in general area of Tulihal and Yairipok, the PRO said.
In the same statement, the PRO conveyed about the arrest of one PLA cadre today by troops of 21 AR at a mobile check post in the Wapokpi area near Sugnu.
Identifying the arrested PLA cadre as SS Pvt Sanjit Meitei alias Ngamba (army no.1767) s/o Dhiren Meitei of Pangaltabi Awang Leikai, the PRO informed that the individual has been handed over to Kakching PS.
Corpse fished out: The body of an unidentified man floating down in a decomposed state was fished out from Imphal River near Koirou Loubuk under Singjamei Police Station at around 4 pm today.
The body has been picked up by the police and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for identification.
Victim succumbs: 29-year old Chandam Shanker, who was among the passengers who sustained injuries in the bus mishap that occurred near Irang Bridge on May 29 succumbed to the injuries at Shija Hospital, Langol last night.
His mother Tampha was also killed in the tragic mishap.
