12 students hurt as school collapses

At least 12 students of Dialkhai Jr High School in Thanlon sub-division were injured today as a sudden gale that swept across the district mid-day damaged their newly constructed concrete school building, sources said.
Students of the Jr High school located about 5kms from Thanlon sub-divisional headquarters were attending their classes when the sudden gale accompanied by rain brought-down the wall of their school which was constructed sometime in between 2009-10, a source said.
Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte said 12 students were injured in the incident and at least two of them seriously.
The two students who were injured more seriously than the others were on their way to the district headquarters.
The concerned Minister who was in town to attend a couple of ceremonies and the Deputy commissioner have been informed about the mishap, he said while also assuring all possible help from his side to treat the injured students as well as to ensure an early resumption of classes.
