Imphal, June 10 2019:
After a threadbare discussion, the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) cabinet has unanimously resolved to revoke the 'military rule' imposed in Zeliangrong inhabited areas since May 24, 2019 with immediate effect.
A statement issued by the outfit conveyed that the cabinet meeting also endorsed the 'popular government' of ZUF headed by Chairman Raitu Chawang to strive towards achievement of the political aspiration of the ZUF and the Zeliangrong people.
The Chairman entrusted all the cabinets concerned of ZUF to carry forward their assignments with commitment, sincerity and integrity.
He also delivered a message to the ZTF to work hard in whatever circumstances until the realisation of the Zeliangrong people's long cherished dream.
The political issue of Zeliangrong people has been dragging on in various forms and movements for decades due to negligence of the Government of India towards Zeliangrong people's contributions.
In pursuit of a political settlement, many Zeliangrong people had lost their lives, and their land and natural resources had been snatched away, it said.
Moreover, Zeliangrong people are being suppressed economically and politically due to trifurcation of the Zeliangrong land into Assam, Manipur and Nagaland for which the ZUF is compelled to take up the political issue in order to secure the future of the Zeliangrong people, it asserted.
It then re-assured that the ZUF would never betray the Zeliangrong people's mandate and the confidence reposed on the front.
