M Manindra memorial meritorious award distributed; Outstanding students feted at Leimapokpam, Leishangthem Khongmanung

As observed annually to encourage the students of Moirang AC, the 11th M Manindra Memorial Meritorous Award 2019 sponsored by ex-MLA M Prithviraj Singh and his family was distributed to the meritorious students in a simple function held at INA Martyrs' Memorial Hall, Moirang today.
The award distribution function organized by M Manindra Memorial Trust Moirang began by paying floral tributes and respect to the photo of late M Manindra Singh which was attended by Chairperson Kwakta Municipal Council Md Maherrudin; Vice-Chairperson Moirang Municipal Council M Basanta Singh; Pradhan Phubala Gram Panchayat N Ranjit Singh; Retd Principal, Moirang College A Sharatchandra Sharma; Retd Principal Moirang Multipupose Higher Secondary School T Manglem Singh and Councillors of Moirang and Kwakta Municipal Council, ex-Councillors, Ward members, Pradhans, ex-Pradhans, Head Masters as presidium members.
As part of the function, outstanding students including Ribraj Mairembam of Herbert School who secured 4th position in the recently declared Class XII (Science) exam conducted by COHSEM scoring 93.40%, Pukhram Suman of Herbert School who stood 6th position scoring 93%, 2nd position holder in Arts Stream, Melody Moirangthem of EK Hr Sec School scoring 87.80% and 5th position holder from the same school who scored 86% Huidrom Beron Singh were honoured with cash incentives of Rs 10,000 each with citation by the Trust.
Besides, a total of 10 students who have scored 65% and above marks in Science Stream of the said exam from Moirang AC, 4 students who have scored 60% and above marks in Arts Stream and 34 successful students who have scored 80% and above marks in the Class X exam conducted by BOSEM from the Moirang AC were also felicitated with citation and cash prize.
Cash incentives of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 were also handed over to first three toppers from the Moirang AC in Class XII exam respectively during the function.
Principals of St Xavier's School and New Model Public School who have the distinction of producing 100% 1st divisioners in the Class X exam were also honoured with modest gifts.
Retd Principal T Manglem and Renowned Economist Prof Amar Yumnam were also honoured during the function.
Speaking at the occasion, ex-MLA and Chairman of the Trust M Prithiviraj said that the current students lack self-confidence and questioning spirit due to absence of co-curriculum activities in the schools adding that the schools ought to give more emphasis on other personality development programme besides studies for all round development of the students.
He further said that there are many higher secondary schools in Manipur but the one who nurtured and guide average performing students in Class X exams to become higher performing students in Class XII exams will be considered the best schools in the eyes of the public while urging the youth of the State to stop chasing after Govt jobs and instead concentrate on setting-up of small scale industry to develop the entrepreneurship spirit in the State.
Meanwhile, Bright Educational Career Association (BECA), Leimapokpam Khunpham has also organized 8th Meritorious Award Distribution, 2019 for the students of Leimapokpam Gram Panchayat at Leimapokpam Mayai Community Hall.
The function was attended by MLA Nambol AC N Loken Singh as chief guest; Advisor BECA O Ibotomba Singh as functional president and News Editor & Head, Regional News Unit, AIR Imphal Dr Aribam Ibomcha Sharma IIS; member Leimapokpam ZP L Jiten Meitei and Pradhan Leimapokpam GP Th Pashot Devi as guests of honour.
In the function, 22nd position holder in Class X exam of Manipur Board, Aribam Pooja Sharma of Little Flower School, 39 students who have scored 60% and above marks in the said exam and 14 students who have scored 60% and above marks in Class XII exams of COHSEM were felicitated and honoured with simple gifts.
As part of the function, 22nd position holder Aribam Pooja Sharma participated in an interaction programme with other students while Career Psychologist, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Oinam Anuradha spoke on career of the students as resource person.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA N Loken Singh said that hard work and determination is key to become a good students irrespective of proper guidance of parents, guardians and teachers and urged the students to labour hard and persevere in the face of difficulty to become a resourceful and accomplished individual in life.
He also assured that cash prize of Rs 1 lakh will be conferred to those students who manage to secure rank in the first ten position from Leimapokpam Area.
THOUBAL: United Generation Committee (UGC), Leishangthem Khongmanung Makha has organized its 5th Annual Prize distribution felicitation function for the successful students hailing from the nearby area who have excelled in the recently declared Class X and XII exams conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM at Leishangthem Khongmanung Makha Community Hall, Thoubal district yesterday.
The felicitation function was attended by MLA Khangabok AC Okram Surjakumar as chief guest; Leishangthem Gram panchayat Pradhan RK Krishnachandra as functional president and former Headmaster, Charangpat High School Mayengbam Manilal, SDC Ningthoukhong (junior MCS) Tayenjam Clinton Singh and Senior Manager, Bank of India, Imphal Branch Oinam Khogendro Singh as guests of honour.
Altogether 40 successful students of Class X exam, 33 successful students of Class XII exams and 1st divisioner of Leishangthem GP were honoured with citations and simple gifts in the function.
Meanwhile, Laimanai Youth Club Yairipok (LYCY) also organized its Annual Meritorious Award Distribution Function at Laimanai Multipurpose Hall today.
The felicitation function was attended by K Inaocha Devi, Tuhilal Zilla Parishad member; Thongam Ito Singh, president LYCY; Yumnam Tomba Singh, Pradhan Top Chingtha GP as presidium members.
In the function, 52 meritorious students who came out with flying colours in the recently declared Class X and XII exams, 6 sportspersons and 4 doctorate scholars were honoured.
Speaking at the occasion, Thongam Ito Singh, president LYCY said that such meritorious award will be held every year to encourage and motivate the students and sought full cooperation from the public.
He also appealed the State Govt to frame policy programme for the welfare of the sportspersons.
