As in the past, Imphal based schools walk away with lion's share in merit list, girls outdo boys

As in the past, Imphal based schools hogged the limelight in the Class XII examination, for which the results were announced today.
Education Minister Th Radheshyam announced the results of the Class XII examination at the conference hall of the Council of Higer Secondary Education, Manipur today afternoon.
The pass percentage showed a marked improvement from the previous two years at 73.83 percent.
In 2018 it was 67.04 percent while in 2017 it was 68.81.This year, the pass percentage of Government-run schools and colleges is 61.96 per cent witnessed an increase of nearly 12 per cent against the pass percentage of 2017 which is 50.33 per cent.
Moreover, students from Government institutions have also made it in the toppers list of both Commerce and Arts stream except for Science.

Girl students outshone boys with a pass percentage of 77.39 per cent against 70.14 per cent boys passing the class 12 board exam.
As in the past schools located in Imphal did much better than schools located at other districts with Meci Explorer Changangei, Herbert School Changangei, Xtra Edge School Ghari, Comet School Changangei, Millennium Institute of Sciences Sagolband Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi, Human Resource Development Academy Ghari leading the merit list.
New Era Higher Secondary School, Thoubal also featured in the top 25 spot with a student from this school bagging the 4th position.
In the Arts stream, the lion's share in the merit list went to Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham with ten of its students coming in the first ten position.
Students from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Senapati, Delta Advance School, Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School and TG Higher Secondary secured a rank each in the top ten to break the monopoly of EK Higher Secondary School.
In the Commerce stream, Sangai Higher Secondary School walked away with the major share with two of its students coming in the first top five positions, the first and the third.
Newly formed district Noney led the pass percentage district wise with 92.19 percent of the students passing the examination.
Kamjong district which had seven students appearing for the examination, all failed to return a figure of 0 pass percentage.
The Class XII examination started from February 18 and wound up on March 20 and had 28649 students appearing for the same with 21151 students passing to log a pass percentage of 73.83.Altogether seven candidates were expelled for impersonation and using unfair means during the examination.
