CBI directed to publish proclamation on Nando

Observing that there is the need to issue a proclamation that may lead to the arrest of Th Nando, Session Judge Imphal West today directed the CBI to publish a proclamation on the accused in the local and National newspapers and to submit a report in this connection on June 18.The order was passed today after a warrant of arrest issued by the Court was returned by a Sub Inspector of the CBI/ SIT stating that the whereabouts of accused Th Nando is not known.
During today's hearing accused N Rame was present along with his counsel while another accused James Kuki was produced before the Court from Sajiwa Central jail.
The case is on as CBI trial case number 53 of 2013 "Baby Lungnila Elizabeth murder case".
The Court heard the submission of the Special PP CBI also perused the report from Susheel Kumar Verma, Sub Inspector CBI/ SIT in connection with the warrant of arrest issued against the alleged accused Th Nando @ Nanao on April 24.The report submitted by CBI/ SIT mentioned that the family members of Th Nando do not know his whereabouts and the Court observed that from the report of CBI it is believed that the accused is in hiding with no one knowing where he is in hiding.
Thus a written proclamation to summon Th Nando before the Court was needed, observed the Court and directed CBI to publish the proclamation in the local and National neswpapers.
The Court also remanded James Kuki to further judicial custody till May 22 .
Th Nando, James Kuki and N Rame are trial in the kidnapping and murder of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth.
The Court had fixed March 30 for the judgment after the final hearing.
However before the judgment could be delivered, Th Nando escaped from JNIMS Hospital in the wee hours of March 26, 2019 where he was undergoing treatment at the Orthopaedic ward of the hospital from November 26 last year.
On the same day Manipur police announced a reward of 1 lakh to anyone who can provide information leading to his arrest Police also launched massive search operation in different parts and suspected area to nab Th Nando soon after his escape from JNIMS.
A few days before Th Nando escaped, Th Subol father of Th Nando was arrested by Imphal East district police from JNIMS Male Orthopaedic ward along with 12 extortion notes of KCP and two mobile phones.
It may be mentioned that Th Nando was in judicial custody at Sajiwa Central Jail from 2003 onward after he was arrested in connection with the murder of Lungnila Elizabeth daughter of Francis Ngajokpa who was then a Minister.
It may also be mentioned that 8 years old baby Lungnila Elizabeth was kidnapped by some unknown individuals in front of her school gate (Little Flower School) on November 4, 2003 and the highly her decomposed body was found in a sack at Tera Sadokpam Leikai November 12 .
