NAB team attacked, one personnel still missing Pistol confiscated, cars set ablaze

Apart from confiscating a pistol, two cars belonging to a team of the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) were set ablaze in a mob violence that broke out at Moijing, Thoubal district this evening.
Moreover, one NAB personnel was missing till the time of filing this report.
Acting on a specific tip off about presence of a manufacturing unit for drugs like brown sugar, a team of NAB went to Moijing in search of the drug manufacturing unit.
However, a large group of people raised an uproar and they soon turned violent.
Even though the NAB personnel were clad in civilian clothes, they were coming together with a team of district police.
The uproar broke out as the police team tried to take away one Aslam Khan.
Even as the police team opened fire to control the uproar, the mob set ablaze two cars (Santro and Alto).
They also confiscated a pistol.
Out of two NAB personnel overpowered by the mob, one is still missing.
Meanwhile, it is reported that additional forces of the district police have rushed to the area.
However, the police teams were holding back till 9 pm as they saw a large number of armed persons in the village.
Police were apprehensive that their entry into the village may lead to violent confrontation and large scale casualties.
