Imphal, September 22 2009:
In connection with withdrawing NREGS wages through post office savings accounts, the Director of Postal Services, Manipur has laid down certain points that should be observed by the beneficiaries.
In a statement, the Director made it clear that the Department of Posts acts only as an agency through which wages are disbursed/paid through the savings bank accounts opened by the beneficiaries at their respective post offices.
So all the beneficiaries should withdraw their wages by himself/herself in person.
Suggesting all the beneficiaries to being their respective passbooks at the time of withdrawing their wages, the Director explained that the withdrawal slip should be signed by the concerned account holder in person wherever necessary and consult the postal officials if any doubt arises.
The practice of collecting their wages through any third party/pradhan/ any local representative should be avoided and all the beneficiaries should check the amount entered in their respective passbooks, viz amount to be withdrawn, amount before withdrawal, amount after withdrawal, etc from the concerned post-master, the Director said.
For any grievances/complaints, suggestions ASP (HQ) may be contacted on telephone no.0385-2450264 and Nodal officer on 0385-2443932 .
