In continuation of the mass movement launched under the stewardship of the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup against the July 23 Khwairamband killings, a sit-in-protest was staged at Kyamgei Maning Leikai community hall today under the aegis of the Kyamgei Apunba Nupi Lup.
The protesters put up placards and festoons which read as "Resign, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi", "Punish guilty commandos", "CM Ibobi, are you governing the land or protecting your seat or amassing personal wealth ?", etc.
Later, the women protesters burnt effigies of AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and MLA O Landhoni.
JAC invites all to memorial service : The JAC Against the Killing of Ch Sanjit has invited all the people to the bimestrial memorial service of Sanjit and Rabina to be held tomorrow.
A press release issued by the JAC invited all members/volunteers of Meira Paibis, civil organisations, student bodies and NGOs to reach the houses of
Sanjit and Rabina at 8 am tomorrow to pay floral tributes to the departed souls.

The stoic silence of the Government even after two months of the infamous Khwairamband fake encounter only shows its callous attitude towards the grievances of the people.
Treatment of the issue in the most casual manner even as students have boycotted their own classes only testified that the incumbent Government is anti-people, the JAC alleged.
Fulfilment of the demands of the Apunba Lup, the JACs and the people would go a long way in making any sense of democracy in Manipur, it asserted.
