The Editors Guild of India mourns the sad demise of its senior member, G.S.Bhargava, former Resident Editor, Indian Express and a veteran columnist, in New Delhi today, the Editors Guild conveyed in a statement issued to media houses throughout the country.
85 year old Mr.Bhargava was an active member of the Guild, who took active interest in issues of press freedom and standards of journalism.
Blue Pencil, his column on media reporting was looked forward by journalists with both eagerness and uneasiness, as he was fair, but strict on the norms of journalism and writing skills, remembered the EGI statement signed by its president Rajdeep Sardesai and its secretary general, KS Sachidananda Murthy.
With a deep passion in politics and international affairs, Mr.Bhargava had journalistic experiences of four decades, having worked with Indian Express, Hindustan Times and other newspapers.
He had worked as a foreign correspondent in three South Asian countries and was the author of books on contemporary events and also penned biographies.
He was also associated with important think tanks in India and abroad.
Mr.Bhargava worked as Principal Information Officer of the Government of India in late 1970s .
The Guild also conveys its heartfelt condolences to Mrs Lily Bhargava and all members of the bereaved family.
