Aquapreneurship development programme for tribal youths and farm women of Manipur conducted

The Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal has conducted a "Aquapreneurship development programme for Tribal Youths and farm women of Manipur" today at CAU NEC Model Farm, Lamphelpat on the eve of the "World Entrepreneurs' Day" celebration, 2022 .
The training was conducted as a part of the DST WOS (B) Scheme funded by the WISE-KIRAN Division of the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, said a press release by CAU, Imphal.
During the programme, the Directorate presented a token of appreciation to M/s EENGAAL Imphal in recognition and application of their pioneering entrepreneurship in the field of aquaculture and fish processing in Manipur.

The training was conducted to encourage the rural youths and farm women, especially residing in the hill districts of the State, to take up aquapreneurship programs to uplift their socio economic status through several activities in fisheries sector.
Gracing the occasion as the presidium members, Dr Ng Joykumar Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology, CAU, Lamphelpat and Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal shared their views on the necessity of entrepreneurship programme in fisheries and agriculture sectors as there is potential and scope especially in Manipur and NE India and maintained that it can generate job opportunities for many farmers.
N Induboson Singh, President of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Manipur and General Secretary, Telem Dara Singh who were present at the programme also encouraged the trainees to take up aquapreneurship programmes to become self-reliant and for self sustainability.
The training was attended by 28 fish farmers from 11 districts of State including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Tengnoupal and Chandel.
An interaction programme of the farmers and M/s EENGAAL Imphal organisation was held on several topics on entrepreneurship programme in fisheries and the founders, Tensubam Wanglemba and Pangambam Ingoba Meitei shared their journey in building and becoming successful aquapreneurs in Manipur.
Inputs such as fish seeds of Ngaton and Ngahou were also distributed to the 28 trainees, added the release.
