Training programme on piggery concludes

A three-day training programme on piggery/poultry management and scientific rearing concluded at Changoubung community hall on Monday.
The scientific rearing of pig, an extension training programme under National Livestock Mission (NLM) started on August 19 .
It was organised by the deputy director, Sub-Divisional veterinary Hospital, Kangpokpi.
Resource persons during the training were Dr Ch Esau Mao, project officer Pony Farm (Tingkhai Khunou), Dr M Pule Addison, veterinary officer Kangpokpi, Dr Deepa Devi, veterinary officer Kangpokpi.
During the three-day programme, farmers were taught about "Different breeds of pigs and their characteristics, selection of farm site and different housing system, economic housing with locally available materials", "Breeds of choice for piggery develop ment in Manipur, economic feeding with non-conventional feed and green fodder and Diseases, pertaining to reproduction", and "Piglet anaemia and its treatment, different common viral diseases and their treatment and different common bacterial diseases and their treatment".
About 60 farmers attended the training programme.
AU the trainees were awarded certificates on the last of the training.
