Imphal, October 16 2010:
Adhoc policies followed by the State Government and haphazard development works have been causing unnecessary troubles to the public.
The ongoing work of laying underground cable for power supply near Assembly crossing along NH-39 and beside Kanglapat is a case in point.
Because of the cable laying work, one side of the busy city road is being blocked near the MG Avenue crossing where oneway traffic is already in force in view of the traffic congestion at this point.
Vehicles are being diverted to different routes to avoid the MG Avenue crossing, thereby causing great inconvenience to the people.

For instance, a vehicle coming from the North towards Keishampat should take a detour going back to Minuthong and then proceed to Konung Mamang, Sanjenthong and Nityaipat Chutek to reach its destination.
What is more outrageous is the Government never bothered to inform the public in advance about its plan to block the road which if it had done could have considerably reduced the inconveniences to the public.
Considering the vital link being provided by MG Avenue crossing, many citizens suggested that the concerned authorities should do the cable laying during night instead of causing traffic snarls and public inconveniences by doing the same work during day time after closing one side of the busy road.
Even as the general public have been facing lot of difficulties following half-closure of the road, top bureaucrats have been crossing the point without any hassles which has been only increasing the sense of victimisation being felt by the common people.
Multiplying woes of the people, plasters of road medians are being removed and sand/earth piled up along side the medians for renovation.
Considering the fact that plasters being removed now were done only recently, many people have a feeling that the incumbent Government has imbibed an unhealthy of allotting contract works by creating rooms for the same at the first available opportunity.
