The 'Dream excursion' of the students of Manipur to the XIX Commonwealth Games, New Delhi concluded with the team receiving a warm reception on their arrival at the Imphal Airport.
The enlightened faces of these students spoke of the successful conduct of the excursion by 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South), a press release from PRO, IG AR (S) said.
The Excursion team interacted with the Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat and Mrs Kiran Jagat at the Raj Bhavan.
Apart from sharing their experiences with His Excellency, a panorama of the tour was showcased with the help of photographs of the visit.
Maj Gen CA Krishnan and Cdr 26 Sector AR were also present during the occasion.
The students also presented CWG souvenirs to the Governor .
Earlier the excursion team during their stay in New Delhi from October 11 to 15 joined the sports fiesta by witnessing various sporting events at respective venues of the XIX CWG, New Delhi.
The team was overwhelmed being part of such an historic event of the nation.
The curriculum also included visit to the pristine monuments and sights in the national capital.
The joy of these students was at its pinnacle when they finally met their icon M Surunjoy Singh who clinched the first Gold Medal in boxing for the country, on the same day along with P Samotta and Manoj Kumar.
It was a life time experience for these students as most of them had never travelled outside Manipur and children from remote areas like Sajik Tampak and Samtal had never visited places outside their district.
