Union Home Secretary GK Pillai and Union DoNER Secretary Jiyatichandra, arriving in the state tomorrow on a four day visit, will conduct an inspection of the flood affected areas in Imphal east district tomorrow itself.
Elaborate security arrangement has been made with regard to their visit in the state.
Security personnel to be detailed from Imphal airport to Raj Bhavan have been asked to assume their posts from 9 am tomorrow.
There will also be a change in the visit of the Central top officials to the Ukhrul district headquarters.
A helicopter will airlift the visiting officials to the Ukhrul district headquarters where they will attend a development seminar on Tuesday.
Earlier, they had planned to travel from Imphal to Ukhrul by road but from a security point of view, they will now be airlifted by helicopter, the source disclosed.
Another eight member official delegation of the Central government including some officials of under secretary ranks is also arriving tomorrow afternoon by another flight to attend the seminars in Imphal east and Ukhrul.
They will be put up at Hotel Classic, the source said.
During their four day stay in the state, they will hold meetings with the Chief Minister and top officials of the state on various agendas including the stock position of essential commodities.
The source said that they will review the stock position of essential commodities which the state is yet to replenish since it was nearly exhausted during the six month long economic blockade imposed on the national highways passing through the state.
The position of essential commodities, importantly, the rice stock has been sharply depleted having been used to provide relief to the flood affected people even though complaints poured in that the quantity distributed was less than what was promised.
A highly reliable source said that the buffer stock of the godowns of the state consumer affairs, food and public distribution lies depleted.
Officials refused to disclose the latest stock position.
Government has convened a high level meeting tomorrow (October 17) to discuss and find a way to end the shortages in the stock position of rice.
The meeting will also be attended by FCI joint secretary (North East in-charge) Daljit Singh.
He too is arriving tomorrow to attend the meeting, the source said.
Daljit Singh will hold a meeting(s) with stae officials to compiled a report on the present stock position of rice and submit it to the Union Home Secretary, GK Pillai.
An official source said the two top officials of the Central government are arriving in Imphal tomorrow (Sunday) at 2.30 pm by Indian Airline Flight no.899 .
After taking a brief break at the Raj Bhavan where they would be camping, they are scheduled to tour flood affected areas at Wangkhei and its adjoining areas in Imphal east.
The tour will start at 3.30 pm and will continue till 5.30 pm.
They are targeting to cover the maximum of the areas affected by the recent flood.
They will hold interaction with the flood victims and hear their grievances and their opinions regarding the government relief operations, the source disclosed.
On the next day of their arrival, Union Home Secretary and DoNER Secretary will attend a development seminar of Imphal east district slated at Classic Hotel, North AOC which will begin at 10.45 am.
Both of them will address the seminar.
On October 19, they will take a tour to Ukhrul district headquarters to attend the development seminar of the district.
A helicopter will air lift them to the district headquarters where the seminar is to be held at the conference hall of the DC office.
They will also visit CRCW office at the district headquarters, the source added.
