Moreh, June 16 2015 :
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Moreh has expressed concern over drinking water scarcity being faced at Moreh.
KSO Moreh president Tinthang Haokip said that the two water supply plants located at Ward No 1 and Ward No 9 are unable to meet the drinking water requirement of Moreh.
The reservoir of Ward No 1 has not been supplying water since the past one month after the water pump broke down on the bank of Lokchao (Menal) river, he said.
Saying that the water supply plant located at Ward No 9 is also around 30 years old, the president said that there is an urgent need to replace the old pipes with new ones as many localities of the border town do not get adequate water due to numerous leakages at different points.
At this juncture, Moreh PHED office has only four staff, he added.
Meanwhile, KSO Moreh inspected Eklavya Residential School, Moreh today.
In a statement, the students' body said that the school does not have proper infrastructure, approach road, water facility, fencing and kitchen wares for mid-day meal.
Saying that the school building is also not satisfactory, KSO Moreh urged the Government to provide all these requirements and take up steps to begin session at the earliest.
